I'M NOT THE GUY YOU KILL, I'M THE GUY YOU BUY
The cold shoulder can be a costly thing in life, yet we do it so haphazardly. Imagine the following exchange between Donna Shalala and Sir Nevin:
The hypocrisy is something we all expect. But, the glee in which Da U took money from Nevin The Clown may be historic. However, the time honored axiom "hurt people hurt people" probably should have been
"It was a really big check"
recognized. For a backward-hat wearing douche like this, the most important thing is access, respect, deference and free shit. Caligula would be proud of the trail this dude blazed, though hookers, abortions, cocaine....you name the vice, Nevin could provide. Shouldn't the U administation be suspicious of a booster who wears a jersey? What happended to the rosy-nosed, gravel voiced 55-ish booster with a neat bourbon in one hand and a fist-full of 100s in the other? The guy who stayed at the Cabot Lodge just for the free well drinks from 6-9. Perhaps this species, who wrecked programs in the 80s, is a dinosaur, giving way to the new-money rain-maker...or, perhaps this just exists at the U. Granted, South Florida is like no other place and if there was any place where such a remora would seem common, it is there. The damage to the U was not done by letting Nevin run amok, but how they cut ties with him when he went to the pokey.
Prison allows a person a great deal of time to think.......and stew. Remove my name from a building? I will tell how I set up Kellen Winslow with a tranny from Naranja. Refuse to accept my prison mail? I will show a picture of Frank Haith with a 14 year old Asian girl with hands of pure velvet.
The moral of this story, and it is a story with few morals, is to make sure these boosters are indeed your friends, and, if so, treat them like friends even if they rip off countless people in true dirtbag fashion. It could save your program.
The moral of this story is that you should never trust a jock-sniffer. A 40-y/o hanging with 18-y/o is not the norm and should be treated as such.
Though as the eyes of Janet Reno Jr. display.....money is blinding.
At least the U's APR was the best in the state, though the question begs asking were those grades legit or were they paid for like the steaks and hookers.
I've heard of the old sayin, "You ain't cheatin? Then you ain't tryin boy so yah better start pushin dem drugs and hos more harda!"
Obviously the U was trying very hard. Makes it all the more fun to watch this Santa Maria of a cruise liner go down to the bottom of the Gulf Stream. How can you cheat that much and suck that badly? It's not like they were playing in a real league, they were mediocre (at best) in the ACC for crap's sake! Does this reflect more on Randy Shannon or the quality of UM as a whole?
